Site Preparation

Preparing for Your New Structure

One of the most common questions we receive is, "What does my building need to sit on?"

The good news is that most sheds and outdoor structures can be installed directly on your property with minimal preparation. However, choosing the right foundation can improve longevity, stability, and overall performance.

Can My Building Be Installed Directly on Grass?

Yes.

Many of our sheds and smaller structures can be placed directly on a level grass surface.

Our delivery team will ensure the building is properly positioned and leveled during installation.

For customers looking for the most economical option, a level grass site is often sufficient.

Recommended Foundation Options

While grass installation is possible, we typically recommend installing your building on a prepared foundation.

Concrete Pad

A 4-inch concrete pad is considered the premium foundation option.

Benefits include:

βœ” Maximum stability

βœ” Long-term durability

βœ” Clean finished appearance

βœ” Ideal for garages, workshops, and larger structures

βœ” Excellent support for vehicles and heavy equipment

Gravel Pad

A properly installed gravel pad is another excellent option.

Benefits include:

βœ” Improved drainage

βœ” Cost-effective foundation solution

βœ” Reduced ground moisture

βœ” Great for sheds, workshops, and outdoor structures

βœ” Long-lasting performance

Foundation Installation

French's Outdoor Structures does not directly install concrete or gravel pads.

However, we work with trusted subcontractors throughout our service area who can prepare your site before delivery.

If you'd like assistance, we'll coordinate with one of our preferred contractors and obtain pricing for your project.

Alternatively, you're welcome to use your own contractor if you already have someone you trust.
